Born in Cham plain, Illin o is, Jack was brought into the w orld under the

but strangely enough, he began his music career as a bass player. He has al
so familiarized himself with various horn instruments to be able to compose
music fo r these in addition to keyboards.
His firs t release entitled, ’ ’ Brother Jack,” sold over 40,000 copies. A t
that time a jazz musician selling those numbers was considered a m ajor hit.

ter. Later, he joined the six-piece-band o f Jerry Coe. Coe’s band was the

One occasion w hile Jack was in Lewiston, Maine, brought a particular
th rill fo r the “ weekend jo c k .” A li was, at the time, in training for his up
coming bout with Sonny Liston. A friend happend to mention that A li was
using one o f M c D u ff’ s songs, “ Rock C andy,” fo r training; and a visit to
the training camp was arranged.
This, and the response o f jazz fans throughout the country, prove that
Jack M c D u ff, is indeed one o f our greatest jazz natural resources o f this
