M O ST PR E C IO U S word lo Oregonians is “ sun” and hopefully not
"liquid sunshine." Keeping the good faith and high expectations,
beginning in February, most sun worshipers "come out" to secure the
ingredients for the proper dimensions that will encompass Exercise plus
Diet equals Swimwear. Body Beautiful. Looking and feeling good— if not—
the bare facts could be intimidating. However, for some, the importance of
culinary adventure forsakes the slimmest o f it all—and, after all, relating to
individual taste— "Th e Body Beautiful” is judged only in the eye o f the
beholder. Swimwear designers’ diversity and style are challenged by alfthe
body forms in mind— thus creating excitement in swimwear from Junior to
Full Figure.
SURPLICE MIO
This summer, Jantzen has added a naw slant to summer elegance
w ith "Stripe Matelasse" swimwear designed from the Via collec
tion.
The suits shown arc very super modern— and very different. Suits that
won’t wilt under the sun. A Maillot doesn’t have to be all-out bare to be
thoroughly sexy. The Bikini. The kind you can sun in, surf or run around
the beach, maybe the Bahamas (if your sunshine turns out to be liquid in
Oregon), made of fabric that will dry almost as quickly as you leave the
water.
The waters o f the North Pacific Ocean make a cool statement, providing
the perfect background for Jantzen’s 1982 Spring and Summer line. They
artfully mix color and design, then wrap the body with exuberant print
"extravaganzas.”
This sleek-fitting Surplice M io (one piece, cut high over the thigh) is from
Jantzen’s Via Collection, where this season, nobody knows bodies better.
National Swimwear companies— notable are our own Oregon Three
companies— Jantzen, White Stag and Pendleton— and the newly formed
(and seen on the Merv G riffin Show) Petticord Swimwear Co. The three
original companies are basic, but Petticord— as seen in downtown
stores— are a bit more lavish, using leather and suedes. Their cover-ups are
attractive enough to be seen on the street— not just at poolside as designed.
alone. (Right) A fte r the swim party la over —naw proportions In

Summer Tidbits
With any luck, you will be living most weekends in a bathing suit— be it in
the backyard, gardening, sunning on the roof-top or maybe capturing the
warm waters o f the Caribbean and jus, lying back ir your 2-piece, high or
low bikini— let the sun soothe and renew you.
Care f o r your suits. Chlorine and salt water can be cleansed from your
swimwear by uring Woolite. Take care of your expensive suit. All you have
to do is rinse in I cap o f Woolite in water after every swim. It will also
eliminte perspiration stains and help prevent shrinkage.
Skin care products. Emphasis should be placed on the body, as minus-
moisture is particularly noticeable now. Take advantage o f products for
total body care: Almond Body Treatment, a lotion moisturizer; Hand and
Body I reatment enriched with Aloe Vera and Collagen; Elastin treatment,
excellent for the cuticles; Deep Pore Milky Body Cleanser; a non-alcoholic
mild freshener; and finally Cocoa Butter lotion and bar forms arc excellent
for spot elimination.
Head covering. Cover-up your hair. Avoid letting hair get dry & brittle,
especially hair that has been chemically treated. After swimming, remember
that hats are hack— the broad, wide brimmer is perfect with swimwear. A
newer hat for summer is the Oriental Boater. Use scarves always— if
possible. A lter swimming, rinse chlorine out o f your hair immediately and
apply a moisturizing conditioner.
On the feet. The importance of a pedicure is o f utmost value— minus
callous, nea, trimmed cuticles and nails and pointed toes are ready to be
seen in your beautiful sandals. The more open the shoe, the more effective
for summer. W ith a pedicure and polish sand looks better running through
your toes.
