No one will be free until all people are free.

The A m erican education system has tried to bury the vast and treasured
history o f the American Black people. They have taught millions o f students
in history classes all over this country saying that Black people were savages
and slaves.
The truth is that Black History goes back to ancient Egypt. If you’ve seen
the pyram ids, y o u ’ve seen one o f the ten w onders o f the w orld. The first
irrigation system o f the world flowed from the Nile. Blacks introduced trade
and commerce to the w orld. Gold was introduced for the use o f m ankind.
Mathmatics and medicine were given to the world.
The P ortland Observer takes pride in publishing this Special E dition on
Black H isto ry . We plan to co n tinue to lead in educating and pro m o tin g
equality among men and women in the Portland area. We hope that you will
learn and appreciate the fine culture and tradition that the Black race has
given to this country and maybe one day the history books will be written in
truth so a special edition like this will no longer be needed to educate all races
about each other.
