U. of O. P review scheduled Feb. 11. Student« considering enrolling at
the University o f Oregon next year will have a full day on Saturday, Feb.

and see the campus. Both prospective students and their parents are invited
to the day-long series o f events planned for the U O Preview. A ll high school
and community college students are also welcome. Student registrations are
$4 each, while parents may participate for free. Pre-registration form s,
which have been mailed to all Oregon high school graduating seniors, must
be returned before Friday. Feb. 5, to the U O Admissions Office. Commun­
ity college students may obtain the forms from their school counselors.
Participants from the Portland area and elsewhere in the northern part o f
the Willamette Valley may sign up to ride a chartered bus. There will be two
pick-up points in Portland and one in Salem. Cost for the round trip from
Portland is S I2 and from Salem, $9. Bus reservation deadline is Feb. 3. A d ­

ested in learning about local public budgets and the budgetary process are
invited to attend a series o f three Wednesday workshops on Wednesday,
January 20, January 27, and February 3 at 7 pm, at the First Presbyterian
Church, 1200 SW Alder, Portland. Cost is $15 for the series.
The sessions are co-sponsored by the League o f Women Voters o f Port­
land, the Center for Urban Education, and Oregon Accountants for the
Public Interest and include presentations, panels, and small group discus­
sions on the purposes o f budgeting, types o f budgets, how to analyze a bud­
get, the budgetary process, and opportunities for public involvement.

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Tri-County
Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-M et) at the W a t « Ser­
vices Building auditorium, 1800 S .W . Sixth Avenue, Portland, Oregon, at
10:00 a .m ., M onday, January 25, 1962, for tha purpose of considering a
grant am endm ent application for the Banfield Light Rail Project. This
amended application incorporates by reference all of the exhibits in the orig­
inal grant application and includes an amended budget and an enlarged
scope of work which incorporates transit related highway improvements.
The total project coat is 8282,482,750 of which 8239,564,067 is the federal
share, which includes 8230,654,067 of Interstate Transfer funds under the
provisions of 23 USC 103(e)(4) and 88,900,000 of Section 3 Capital funds
under 49 USC 1602. The local share is 842,928,663.
There will be significant environmental impacts as a result of thia project.
These impacts and mitigation measures are detailed in the Final Environ­
mental Impact Statement which is available for public inspection at the ad­
dress listed below. The project is in conformance w ith and it a part of tha
Transportation Improvement Program of tha Metropolitan Service District
(METRO), and is in conformance with the comprehensive land use planning
for the urban area. Persons, families, and businesses will be displaced by
this project. The project has undergone review by the A-96 Clearinghouse.
At the hearing, Tri-M et will afford an opportunity for interested persons
or agencies to be heard with respect to the serial, economic and environ­
mental aspects of the project. Interested persons may submit oral or written
evidence and recommendations with respect to the project.
A copy of the grant amendment application is available for public inspec­
tion at the Tri-M et office, 4012 S.E. 17th Avenue, Portland, Oregon.
