The 60-Voice W estminster Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir will
perform John Rutter’s Gloria at 9 and 11 am, Sunday, December 20, under
the directin of Janet Howland, and accompanied by a nine-piece brass en
semble. In addition, Westminster’s senior minister Dr. Terry Swicegood
will deliver a message entitled, “ The Gift of a C hild.” Westminster is lo
cated in Northeast Portland at 16th and Schuyler Streets.
Saturday M arket's program of free holiday entertainm ent includes
these guest artists: Sat., Dec. 12— Roberto Morganti, juggler extraordin
aire, entertains throughout the day. Also, back by popular demand is Rev
erend Chumleigh & Brodie, Dog of the Future in a new show; Sat., Dec. 19
—The Fallen Angel Choir sings new carols, 12:30 to 2:30; Sun., Dec. 13 &
Dec. 20— Santa Clown, from The W onderfaire, will present a special
Christmas program and surprises throughout the day. In addition, street
musicians and carolers will add to the festivities.
Holiday specials on KATU include: Santa Claus is C om m ' To Town
(Sat., Dec. 19, 8-9 pm). An animated musical tale which delves into the
mysteries and myths of Kris Kringle, alias Santa Claus Fred Astaire is the
narrator. A Christmas Carol—(Thurs., Dec. 24, 6:30-7 pm). An animated
version that recaptures the style and flavor of Christmas in London in Dick
ens' time. The animation is based on original art from the days of Dickens.
Narrated by Sir Michael Redgrave, with Alistair Sims as the voice o f
Scrooge. The World o f Jesus Christ: A Christmas Celebration—(Sun., Dec.
27, 7:30-8:30 am,. “ Directions,” the Emmy Award-winning ABC News re
ligious-cultural series, presents this encore showing of the program which
examines the meaning o f Christ’s life to people of diverse cultures around
the world today. Filmed in holy places overseas, the program combines
great art and music.

Christmas in Portland
A Christmas musical. “ The King of Love” by Rodger Strader, will be
presented by the Mount Olivet Chancel Choir, Sunday, December 13th, 5
pm at Mount Olivet Baptist Church. The Reverend John H. Jackson is Pas
tor. The public is invited.
The choir will perform under the direction of Carl T. Harris, assisted by
pianist Barbara Williams and organist Scott Harris. The narration will be
done by Minnie Harris. Soloists are sopranos Verla Woods, Hazel Davis;
alto Rita Jenkins; tenor Emmitt Porter.
The church is located on N.E. 1st and Schuyler streets near N.E. Broad
