People Serving People
Don Warren: Police O fficer
Jo Ann Jackson: Emergency Com m unications O perator
Don W arren sees the role o f a police o ffic e r as a service to people:
‘ ‘Helping people... helping the elderly to find their way home. Helping
to solve people’ s problems. Giving advice on what to do in situations.
Referring people to community resources that can assist them.”
Don prepared himself fo r a career as a police officer by taking a Law
Enforcem ent T rain ing Program at P ortland C o m m unity College. A
Benson graduate, he also attended Warner Pacific Bible College.
He advises young people interested in a police career to get as much
education as possible, at least two to fo u r years o f college. Emphasis
should be on psychology and sociology, law enforcement, and develop
ing good speaking and writing skills. Police officers must be in good phy
sical condition and have a clean record.
