for 500 needy children in the P o rt
land middle schools this fall.

ready established in Portland’s mid

clothing program.

Conference discusses Black colleges
The Black Colleges Committee, a non-profit organization, is sponsoring
its second annual Black College Conference at the H ilton Hotel on Satur
day, October 24. Theme is "Black Colleges: An Alternative.” Registration
begins at 8 a.m. with sessions starting at 9 a.m.
A nominal charge will be made for costs o f the luncheon and handout
materials. This will be $5 for students and $10 for adults. Call Portland 287-
