The meeting was the Saturday Market, followed by marriage and a cross
country tour, and somewhere along the way, they came up with the name,
"SA;v’s The Limit. ”
".SAi ’v The Lim it, ” is the singing and play ing duo o f Thadd and Sandhi
Spae, troubadours of the eighties.
Thadd hails from the West t oast, San Diego. California and Sandhi is east
coast vintage -- Richmond, Virginia, play ing music from the 30s and 40s and
as Sandhi puts it, “ Any way you slice it. what we do is jazz.”
from street corners, parks, wedding receptions, clubs or anywhere music is
appropriate and appreciated, this unique blending o f voices...Sandhi (five
octaves), and I liadd (guitar, I rombone and Mandolin and main instruments
combined with his voice as point...counterpoint), stirs the emotions with
funk and stuff that’s spelled out soul; soul with a purpose that was driven to
the core when Sandhi said, " I feel that our music is to help people have a
good time rather than giving a message o f some k in d ," which was quickly
syncopated by I hadd’ s “ Mostly we are trying to make our music an ex
pression of our relationship."
I liadd, a writer, arranger-composer, has written in excess of 300 songs, in
cluding two marches -- one for 19 pieces.
Sandhi, whose main instrument is her voice, also plays flu te . G uitar,
Autoharp and Dulcimar, (an Appalachian folk instrument that has four
strings) as a wav o f trying to capture and present the elusive haunting
qualities an artist hears and feels.
S A i’v The lim it , is an interracial cross-cultural blending o f harmonic
structures that weaves and bend' in music and words; words that borders on
the verge of philosophy. Sandhi said, "m y conception o f race is. if we are
cut, we all bleed the same color," with I liadd adding, " Amen to that."
The eighties promises to be a turbulent decade, (Reaganite, space shuttles,
Atlanta s mushroom ol pain and sorrow
hanging like a weeping vine, and
more closely to home, racism that has sprung from its cocoon), all pointing
to the vivid necessity tor occasional distractions ot soul unification and
spiritual uplifting that will solidity and infuse, SA i s The / m i l l .
Thadd and Sandhi, "SA i 'v The I u n i t , "endeavors to do benefits, social
gathered lunclions, clubs, as with their appearance at ( ) ’ (. onnors
sAA
Alder. I ridav and Saturday. May 22 and 23rd.
I he beat goes on and on and on, plusating its throbbing melody and telling
its storv vviih the connotation, the SA i ’.v The I unit.
I liadd and Sandhi Spae. a dynamite duo, working lor the betterment ol
ihe whole.
