Grassroot News, N .W - Last Thursday, Portland was host to comedian/
businessman, Bill C osby.
B ill retains an unique position in the entertainment industry and the
business world. In I97K, Advertising Aye voted him ‘ ‘ Star Presenter o f the
Year,” due to the C'o’ s ability to mix light humor with product sell. He’ s
quoted as saying, “ No. I is to make the product name heard and remem­
bered No. 2 is to make the commerical pay a table and my way is with
humor. My approach from the beginning has been, I want to make the
program interrupt this commerical I mean, you can do a lot o f good in 30
seconds, or you can do a lot o f harm by grating the nervous system o f the
viewer.”
William Henery C osby, Jr., is a three dimensional character with an ex­
clusive place for his family, Camille and five children. The Cos’ s Cosbys’ tri­
lives are his business, entertainment, and education. In the field o f education,
Cosby feels that he’s made his proudest achievements. In his beginnings he

diploma He received a Bachelor's degree from Temple University School
o f C om m unication and a M aster’ s and D octor o f Education from the
University ol Massachusetts. His educational achievements look seven years
to ccomplete. And his dissertation, “ An Integration o f the Visual Media via
I at Albert and the Cosby kids into the Elementary school curriculum as a
leaching aid and vehicle to achieve increase learning.” This examined the
failure ol urban schools to meet educational requirements o f m inority
children, and the grow th o f television in its development as a tool for
educational channge.
