offers job training
Millions o f new jobs are available to college and high
school graduates each year. These jobs run the gamut
from unskilled to professional. One look at unem
ployment statistics will tell you that a far smaller percen
tage ot jobs are being held by Black youths than by
youth in general.
As the job market becomes more and more com

Because o l the lim ite d number o f employm ent
possibilities in the Black community, Black youths will
continue to miss out on the skill training necessary for
most jobs. There is however, an excellent possibility for
vocational training by the U.S. Army Reserve for those
who are eligible, thus giving Black youth a competitive
edge.

the local unit and performs that job during 16 hours o f
monthly drills and two weeks o f Annual Training.
The A rm y Reserves teaches over 300 jobs skills,
nearly half o f them directly related to a civilian career
field.
It s because of this skill training, recognized as among
the best in the country, that many young people are able
to offer the qualifications needed for a good civilian
