o f S ylvia Jeanne Gates and D avid

Sylvia Jeanne is the daughter o f
M r. and M rs. O sly J. Gates o f this
c ity , and D avid M u rra y is the son o f
M r. and M rs. D avid K . C a rlisle o f
Los Angeles.

M iss Gates, given in m arriage by
her fa th e r, was lo v e ly in a w h ite
silken gown w ith chapel length tra in .
The em pire bodice o f her gown and
the tig h t- fittin g long sleeves were ap-
pliqued w ith an old lace pattern and
were stitched w ith tin y seed pearls.
H er fin g e r-tip length veil fe ll around
her shoulders fro m a lace and pearl
co ro n e t. She carried a nosegay o f
m in ia tu re w hite rosebuds. The lace
m itts and the pearl earrings she wore
had been her m o th e r’ s.
As an o n ly c h ild herself, the bride
chose fo r her bridesm aids, tw o o f her
c o u s in s . M rs . D o n n a M c P h e rs o n

The ankle length skirts were crystal
pleated and were banded in baby
blue rib b o n s. T h e ir slippers matched
th e ir pale blue p ictu re hats adorned
w ith long blue velvet streamers, and
th e y c a rrie d id e n tic a l nosegays o f
p in k and blue pom pon dahlias.

The brid e g ro o m was educated at
Wesleyan U n ive rsity in C o n n ecticu t.
He is now in his th ird year o f medical
s tu d ie s at S ta n fo r d U n iv e r s ity
M edical School.
M ost o f the young men w ho acted
as ushers have been classmates o f
D avid at one tim e o r another. K u rt
J o h n s o n , th e best m a n fr o m
W ashington, D .C ., is co m p le tin g his
studies at U n iv e rs ity o f M a ry la n d .

The Department of Housing and Urban Development will accept Prelimint
Proposals for newly constructed or substantially rehabilitated housing units u
der the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments Program, to be located in Po
land S M S A (all of Clackamas. Multnomah and Washington Counties) and Va
couver, W A (Clark County».
Proposals may be submitted by private owners or Public Housing Agency (P H /
Owners for direct contracting with HUD, or by PHAs on behalf of Owners wit
whom the PHA proposes to contract pursuant to an Annual Contributions Cor
tract with H UD .
W e anticipate that Contract Authority in the amount of $650.000 will be mad
available to provide assistance for an estimated 70 units of elderly or handicap
ped. 71 units of family and 25 units of large families for a total of 166 units
Proposals must be received by 4:00 P M on August 2, 1979 This deadline rr
be shortened or extended by H U D . In such case H U D will notify all parties w
have previously registered with the field office requesting such notification.
Submission deadlines shall not apply to Proposals for projects in which the nu
ber of assisted units will be limited to 20 percent or less of the dwelling uni
