cross-busing on the grounds that
they cannot mandatorily bus while

Pacific Northwest Labor College
is conducting a workshop on “ The
Rights of Injured Workers Under
Oregon's Workers’ Compensation
Law.” The program will be present
ed beginning at 8:30 a.m., Saturday,
February 3rd at the IWA Hall, 933
N.W. Bond Street, Bend. The
workshop is expected to end at about
5:00p.m.
The workshop is designed to be of
special value to officials of labor or
ganizations who deal with workers'
compensation problems and to in
jured workers and their spouses. Since
injury is a family affair, a special
husband-wife fee has been set.
The fees for attendance at the
workshop are S10 for individuals and
S12.50 for husbands and wives. For

Pacific Northwest Labor College
(PNLC) is a labor research and
workers education institution found
ed, controlled and operated by offi
cers and members of labor organiza
tions. Since its chartering in April
1977, PNLC has provided workers
education programs which have at
tracted people from Alaska, Califor
nia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah,
and Washington — even as far away
as Washington, D.C.
Other witnesses basically substan
tiated William’s testimony. Cary
Paugh testifed that he and Morrison
had been drinking before going to
the donut shop for a coke to use for
mixer, that Morrison hated Blacks
and that he made the remark to an
tagonize Williams. Lonnie Farber, of
Esco, testified that Morrison wore
the knife to work and had a swastika
tatooed on his ankle.
Javita Rivers, the waitress who
saw most of the incident, said that
after Williams returned with the gun
she heard someone say, “ Sit down
and shut up." She saw Morrison
“ lunge” at Williams before the shot
was fired.

chased the car. He went back into
the store to hold the men until the
police arrived. The prosecutor
charges that Williams intended to
shoot Morrison because the racist
threat “ hurt your Black pride” .
While Williams was holding the
gun on Morrison, Morrison came
toward him and Williams struck out
at him with the rifle but did not hit
him. M orrison jumped toward
Williams, again with the knife in his
hand. Williams testifed that he did
not remember pulling the trigger but
the gun went off.
