Williams elected to Demo meet
Two members o f the Oregon
Assembly fo r Black A ffa irs were
elected to represent Oregon Demos
at this years Mid-term convention.
O f the seventeen delegates from
Oregon, only eleven were elected.
The other delegates w ill be the
Governor, Chair and Vice-Chair o f
the State Democratic Patty, and the
three Democratic National Commit­
tee members.
Pina B. Williams was elected as
the T hird Congressional D istrict
female representative. Ms. Williams
Calvin O. Henry o f Corvallis was
chosen as alternate for delegate-at-
large. Senator Bill McCoy w ill attend
the convention as a member o f the
Democratic National Committee.

As Service Coordinator for the
State A d u lt and Fam ily Services
Division, Phillips is responsible for
planning, program development,
and coordination o f social service
programs for adults in Multnomah
County.
Land use planning, economic
development, and the other respon­
sibilities o f the MSD can enhance the
livability o f neighborhoods if they
arc done with attention to human
needs. Phillips believes his long-term
involvement in planning for human
services gives him an insight into the
effects o f economic and social
changes on the lives of citizens.
