Church Notes
Prison visits church subject
Marcia Taylor will speak at Hughes
Memorial United Methodist Church on
the need to visit Black prisoners at
Oregon State Penitentiary. The M2W2
Program encourages community mem
bers to pledge to visit a prisoner once a
month for six months or one year. Many
Black prisoners have no visitors and
when they are released have no friends
except those they know in prison.
Visits from the community give the
prisoners a chance to know someone on
the outside who can offer encouragement
when they try to adjust back into the
community after release.
Ms. Taylor will speak at 11:00 a.m..
