Always picking plays picturing the

Christ’s photo survives fire
This picture of Christ has a peculiar
history which started forty-three years
ago when Roy Cornelius was in the
basement of one of those stores where
donations are received, repaired, and
resold. He was shocked to see in a pile of
discard a beautiful picture of Christ
Cornelius immediately rescued the pic
ture. took it upstairs and paid for it. After
that it hung on the living room wall in six
different homes where the family lived.
“Let me take you back to a Christmas
Eve a short time ago," he explained "We
had the house all decorated with yellow
and silver tinsel and Christmas balls that
ran across the ceilings in many directions.
Christ’s picture in the center of the wall
also had heavy decorations in silver
around the entire frame." During the
night Mrs. Cornelius smelled smoke.
Going to the bedroom door they found the
entire house on fire. There was no time
to save anything and the only path of
escape was the bedroom window.
Everything in the house burned the
walls and ceilings in all the rooms had to
be replaced. The only thing not burned
was the picture of Christ. It was not even
smoked or discolored.
"This was really two miracles - the
savings of our lives and the picture. Thia

found that casual or light users would
have microscopic fibrosis {abnormal de
velopment of fibrous tissue) in the lungs,
but this would not be of clinical signifi
cance. Persons who smoked heavily for
three to five months would have clinically
observable fibrosis. He reported that
although fibrosis is irreversible, the
extent of the fibrosis would approximate
that of persons living in heavily industria
lized. polluted areas.
Dr. Hawk's research does not address
the questions of whether exposure to
Paraquat would cause cancer or damage
an unborn child. There have been three
reported incidents of pulmonary hemorr
haging in the San Francisco area, but this
has not been positively linked to Para
quat. Because the research has not been
completed and some other scientists have
questioned its validity, the presence of
Paraquat should be considered a serious
health hazzard.
