    Irving Park Senior All-Stars
move up in state tourney
Russell Banks doubled to contar and
Greg Burks drove a shot to center to
score Peek« and the winning run as Ir v ­
ing P ark beat a tough team from Jeffer
sen County 4 - 3. Irv in g P ark collected
only 2 hits but used good speed to score
their 4 runs. Jefferson County was led by
pitcher C. Van Pelt, while allowing Irv in g
only 2 hits, he was 2 for 3 a t bat himself.
How ard Jenkins, Irv in g ’s pitcher, was
strong throughout the encounter, allow-
ing Jefferson County just 4 hits while
whiffing 10 batters. A fte r downing Jeff­
erson County, it was on to the second
round being played a t Lakeside.
Irv in g h eed a Gresham team that at
times seemed to have 13 players on the
field instead of the allowed nine.
I ’ve seen some bad um piring in my life
but none comparable to this show at
Gresham.
