Samuel R. Jamea. aon of M r. and Mrs.
Charles T . James, has enlisted in the
United States Navy. James enlisted in
the Navy's Delayed E n try Program and
will report for basic training in San
Diego.
According to recruiter Bill Tate, the
time a man spends in the Delayed E r ir y
Program counta for pay purpose when
active duty begins, and fulfills a portion
of hia m ilitary obligation while still at
home.

The nine weeks of Navy basic training
trachea such subjects as seamanship, or
I dinance, damage control, shipboard o ri
entation. safety precautions, naval disci
pline. history and Navy customs. Physical
conditioning, personal hygiene and first
aid are also included.
Following basic training, James is
scheduled to attend Class "A" Radioman
school at the Naval Training Center in
San Diego.
Samuel James is a 197# graduate of
Jefferson High School and was enlisted
into the Navy by Bill Tate, the local navy
recruiter at 6736 N. Basin Ave. Those
interested in the many programs in the
New Navy can contact Tate at his office
at 235-6561.
