T ri-M e t (ares have been increased to
forty cents as of Thursday. July 1st.
Students can continue to use thier stu
dent I.D . cards, but their (ares will be
th irty cents for high school and twenty
cents for grade school pupils.
Fares for the elderly and handicapped
who ride during off-peak hours will not
change. Holders of T ri-M e t Honored Citi
zen cards, issued to persons who are over
88 or certified as disabled, will continue
to ride for ten cents from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. and free in the evening, on week
ends and holidays. In peak hours they pay
the full adult fare, now forty cents.
T ri-M e t notes that current timetables
which went into effect in mid-June, prior
to the fare increase, still show the fare as
thirty-five cents. T hat information will be
updatd when new schedules are issued in
the fall.
M onthly passes cost $14 (or unlimited
rides during a calendar month. Daily
use for commuting to and from work
offers a saving of $2.80 for July's twenty-
one working days. Savings may be great
er still if the pass is used either by the
purchaser or other family members for
evening or weekend bus travel.
