State police need women
The Superintendent of State Police

that have been received since the an
nouncement was made that the Depart
ment would be hiring women to work
traffic patrol.
Fisher said that since the announce
ment was made, only 34 applications
from females have been received. He
went on to say that, although his de
partment has been actively recruiting
throughout the state and on college
campuses, only a few applications are

“I am amazed,” said Fisher, "at the
light response to our announcement. I
know there are many women in our
state who are well qualified to become
State Troopers."
