The YM CA in North Port
land begins its fall swim pro­
gram on Tuesday. October
1st. and welcomes youth,
adults and families to par
ticipate.
The YM CA Metro Urban
Center, located at 5430 N.
Moore, offers swim classes
for youth from pre school to
high school. Also, family and
adult recreation swims will
be offered. In addition, the
Y will have special recreation
Swims for teenagers only.
The pre-school swim class
lets Mom or Dad in the pool
with their youngsters, which
is double fun.
Kids can
advance from Crawdad. Tad
pole, and Minnow levels to
Flying Fish. Shark, and Por
poise achievements.
Orien­
tation and testing for youth
swim classes is Thursday,
September 26th. and Friday.
September 27th. at 3:00 p.m.
both days. Swimmers should
bring a bathing ‘suit and
towel to orientation.
The fall swim ctasies and
re creatio n swim sessions
start October 1st and run
through December 21st. For

Victor Atiyeh, Republican
candidate for Governor of
Oregon, will address the 27th
annual meeting of the Carl V.
Morrison Center for Youth
and Family Service on the
subject “Future Directions for
Youth and FanuJv Service in
Oregon".
The meeting will be held
Wednesday, October 2nd. at
the First Methodist Church,
beginning with a no host
luncheon at noon.
Senator Atiyeh will discuss
priorities, policies, and at
titudes concerning the youth
and families of our state.
Robert Straub. Democratic
candidate for Governor, was
also inv ited to speak but was
unable to attend.
An OK Lifestyles Lab will
be led by Dale Jamtgaard.
The 15 hour course is held on
Tuesday evenings beginning
October 1st from 7:30 to 10:00

course are to guide the par
ticipants in:

ternatives from psychological
and Christian views;
