theme for the evening will be
"The Mood of Luxury". The
lavish, lively and luxurious
fashions will be showcased in
the 10th annual Ebony Fa
shion Fair at the Paramount
Civic Theatre on December
16th at 6:00 p.m.
Twelve models will display
some 200 original creations
from leading designers se
lected from Paris. Home,
New York and other fashion
centers. There will be out
standing creations shown that
were designed by Black de
signers such as Jon Weston.
Stephen Burrows, and Kufus
Barkley.
The proceeds of the event
will benefit the United Negro
College Fund, the Phil Bey
nolds Memorial Scholarship
Fund and the Annetta T.
Brown Memorial Fund. Tic­
kets are $10.00 for reserved
seats and $6.(Ml for general
admission. Mrs. Ben Berry
is the ticket chairman. The
tickets are being sold by the
members of the Portland
Chapter of Links. There will
also be tickets on sale at the
House of Sound. 3»>(Mi N.
Williams and at the door the
day of the show. Each ticket
entitles you to a one year
subscription to Ebony maga
zine or a six month subscrip
lion to Jet.
The person
holding a lucky ticket num
her will win a trip for two.

ago, the Ebony Fashion Fair
has served as an outlet for
civic and community groups
to raise funds to donate to
local and national charities.
The show has allowed the
Portland Chapter of Links to
make contributions to the
N A A C P . the Urban League,
the YW CA, the Volunteers
of America, Sickle Cell Ane
mia Foundation, the Portland
A rt Museum, the Albina A rt
Center, the United Negro
( ollege t und. the Multnomah
Association for R etarded
ch ild ren and establish a
scholarship at the School for
Social Work at Portland State
University.
The ch airm en for the
fashion fair are Mrs Conrad
McConnell and Mrs. W alter
Sayles. The president of the
Portland chapter is Mrs.
E.E. Johns.
There will be a no host

limit; or $1.00 for non credit

determination by the court
as to who belongs to the
tribe threatens the tribal
identity as well as the heri
tage of its children.
The Hoopas claim that the
Court of Claims lacks juris
diction and that only the
Department of the Interior
ran intervene. The Depart
ment had already ruled that
the Square belongs to the
Hoopa Valley Tribe alone.
The Hoopa Valley Tribe
has until the middle of Jan
uary to fight the decision and
are planning to go to the
U.S. Supreme Court.
The Hoopa Valley Business
Council has declared its
rights:
