major United States cities
holding demonstrations on
Saturday. May 26. which has
been proclaimed as African
Liberation Day.
A march
and rally are planned, spon
sored by the Portland A fri
can Liberation Day Com
mittee. Also there w ill be a
liberation dance to help raise
$50,000 nationally through
the United African Appeal to
support the liberation move
ments in southern Africa.
A march is planned for
1:00 p.m. starting at Dawson
Park located on N.E. W il­
liams and Stanton Street.
Demonstrators w ill march to
Irvin g Park where activities
are scheduled for the entire
day.
The program w ill
include speakers, music pro­
vided by local bands, food
and cultural displays.
