Page has found that most
potential customers do not
ask questions about the cars
they plan to purchase.
He
advises prospects to ask three
important questions before
buying a car:
1) What is the difference in
price between the new
car and the trade in;
2) What is the interest rate
on payments.
There is
3)

Mysteries of Single-Car
Accidents May beTraced
To Worn Out Shocks
One of the fastest growing
and most mysterious fatal
accident statistics Is the
single car accident. It re
sults when, for some unde
termined reason, a car leaves
the road and strikes a fixed
object
Since victims of the single
car accident cannot explain
what happened, causes of
the tragedy are difficult to
determine
According to some traffic
experts, a possible reason
for at least some of the
single car fatalities could
be worn shock absorbers
When shocks are worn, a
panic stop, possibly caused
by an animal darting onto
the roadway, could result In
the car's front wheels lifting
off the road's surface This
action could result In loss
of control by the driver
Also, when shocks are d e
fective, taking a curve at
high speeds could mean loss
of control
The average efTectlve life
of shock absorbers Is about
two years or 24,000 m iles of
driving. Beyond th at point,
shocks generally lose effec
tiveness and pose a safety
hazard
Motorists are also advised
to m atch up the replacement
shocks with the type of
driving they do In o v er-th e-
road driving with normal
loads, regular shocks g en
erally suffice However, with
frequent driving over rough
roads and at high speeds, a
heavy duty shock may be
needed Motorists who fre
q u e n tly h a u l tr a ile r s or
other heavy loads may need
load leveler stabilizing units
Signs of worn shock ab
sorbers include a bobbing
of the car after a stop,
rough riding characteristics
and Instability on curves
The survey, which will
also look Into the effects of
such factors as tranquiliz
ers and diabetes, Includes
a question to establish the
relationship between the
tim e of the accident and
the last meal.
Symptom s associated with
low blood-sugar are w eak
ness, drowsiness, dizziness,
m ental confusion, double
vision, aggression and other
abnormal behavior. B e
cause sym ptom s can show
at levels not m uch lower
than those after the nor
mal 12 hour overnight fast,
anyone undertaking a long
Journey should not skip a
meal.
Truck drivers who make
early starts without break
fasts are obviously at risk
but so may be people on
slim m ing diets Just how
widespread the problem is
is not known, but clearly
should be a m atter of con
cern.
Abrtbrmally low blood-
sugar level«, Induced by
missed m eals, may be a
direct cause of accidents
Thia Is the view of Miss
M S Christian, Head of the
Accident and Emergency
D epartm ent at Wexham
Park Hospital, Slough, Eng
land. In accident studies
she found th a t several
truck drivers who crashed
for no apparent reason had
extrem ely low blood-sugar
lev« Is.
In three cases, the drivers
were either confused, faint
or 111 but each recovered
after a shot of Intravenous
glucose and a meal None
of them was diabetic and
all were young and healthy
The common factor was
that each driver had at
least 12 hours’ starvation
This new danger was d is
covered by Miss Christian
during a survey she is u n
dertaking of the "unknown
factors" In road accidents
W hat is the actual selling
price of the car. All car
dealers will sell for less
than the listed price if
an offer is made.
Page also cautioned pur
chasers to keep good credit
ratings. The banks will onlv
carry loans on persons with
good credit, so the car dealer
will find a finance company
to carry the note.
The
finance company can charge
a 22 percent financing fee
plus interest.
One reason Page enjoys
working for W alt Johnson's
is because of the honest
selling policy the company
maintains.
There are no
pressure tactics or gimmicks.
Page said W alt Johnson
and the entire sales staff
have been helpful to him.
Page graduated from la w
