and handle hulk mail and
perform duties incidental to
the movement and processing
of mail.
Clerks sort and distribute
mail, work at windows sell­
ing stamps, and do other
inside jobs. Carriers collect
and deliver mail, either walk
ing or driving.

Salary for substitute mail

commissioned by the Kous
sevitzky Foundation of the
Library of Congress and was
premiered in Boston on Jan
uary 20, 1961.
Stabat Mater by Rossini
will complete the program.
This work for solo quartet
and chorus is considered to
be Rossini's greatest work
outside of his operatic com
positions, ft was composed
because of a request made
through a very special friend
to whom Rossini was obli­
gated.

Former students of Van
port Extension Center will
observe the 25th anniversary
of the flooding of Vanport on
Memorial Day. 1948, with a
reunion at Portland's Memor
tai Coliseum on Saturday,
June 16. 1973. 10:00 a.m. to
8:00 p.m.
Vanport. the metropolitan
area’s first public college,
became known as "The Col
lege That Would Not Die"
after the 1948 flood, and has
since grown to be Portland
State University.
Students of the 1946 50
years are organizing the re­
union with the help of John
Jenkins. PSU Alumni Office
Director and an original Van
port faculty member.
Ex
students who may attend are
asked to notify Jenkins at
P.O. Box 751, Portland,
97207.
A head count is
desirable, says Jenkins.
Dr. Stephen Epler, first
Director of Vanport Exten­
sion Center, and the founder
of public higher education ir,
Portland, plans to attend.
Dr. Epler is now President
of Ohlone Community Col
lege in Fremont. California.
Other early faculty members
are being contacted, including
a number who are still on
the staff at Portland State.
Anyone who was a student
at Vanport Extension Center
from 1946 to 1950 is urged to
attend the reunion.
The
planning com m ittee needs
help in locating people, notes
Jenkins, and asks "old timers"
to spread the word.
Food and beverages w ill
he available at the Coliseum
