The program, which is an Incorporated non­ profit organization, was founded In 1968 by the educa­ tion committee of the Port­ land State University Black Students Union. The program has grown and diversified so that It now provides financial assistance to students who are residents of the Model Cities area who attend any college or university. Since the program Is funded by Model C ities, grants are lim ited to Model Cities resi­ dents. Annually between 200 and 250 students are provid­ ed tuition and books to the sum of $705. The purpose of the fund drive, which has a goal of $20,000 is threefold.
