Colonial M rotuary on July 17,
with Reverend O.B. W illiam s
officiating. The Masonic Ser­
vice was held Sunday, with
Enterprise Lodge #1 officiat­
ing.
T rip le tt started in the r a ll-
raod In 1916. He worked as
a w aiter on the V ice -P re si­
dent's ca r on tire Northern
P acific line.
In 1935 he moved to P o rt­
land anti was a w aiter at the
Portland Hotel.
T rip le tt was employed fo r
25 years by SPS.S, wlie re he
was In charge of the cafe car.
He was a w aiter on the
firs t E m pire B uilder to run
out of Portland.
T rip le tt was a member of
Enterprise Lodge #1, F 81 AM.

ker of Portland, two sisters,
Katherine Dlgth and Ester!me
Boyd of Minnesota and one
granddaughter.
Whenever business was good at
a suburban night club, the man­
agement would "stretch” their
spate by putting exlra tables and
chairs on the edge of the dance
floor One nighl, a dancing couple
stumbled over a stray chair.
I he woman suffered painful in­
juries, and later sued the club for
damages She pointed out that the
chair had been shoved several feet
into the dancing area.
“ If it was,” countered the man­
agement, "some other customer
must have done the shoving. We
are not legally liable for what our
customers do."
Hut the court granted the wom­
an's claim. Ihe court said that by-
placing chairs directly onto the
dance floor, the management had
set the stage for trouble

When you go darning in a pub­
lic place, you are entitled to con­
ditions of reasonable safety The
dance floor, the lighting, and the
furnishings should all he main­
tained in such a way as to m ini­
mize the chance of accidents.
Nesertheless. merely by choos­
ing this form of recreation, you
arc accepting those dangers that
are "n a tu ra l” to it. Lor example:
