Carolyn Nelson, education specialist fo r the Consumer Protection Prog r am, was born in Portland in 1945. she attended Boise Elementary School and Jefferson High School. She graduated from Portland State University with a BA in Business Adminis tration in 1968. Carolyn has one daughter, Serena, who is 2 1/2 years old. Carolyn is secretary of the Board of D irectors of the A.M -A. Fam ily Day and Night Care Program, a federally funded child care program fo r children in the Model C ities area. Her hobbies include sewing, cards (Bid Whist) and bicycling. She is a member of M t. Olivet Baptist Church. A Cancer, Carolyn is in clined to be moody. But sne is flexible in her interests and is outgoing and fun-loving. She is creative, and likes to make gifts from household items, such as seeds, oat meal boxes and aluminum fo il. She is well organized and finds that this helps her get all of her chores done arri s till have time for her many spec ial interests. With a 36-25-38 figure Carolyn has no weight prob lem. Her favorite food is faisin fille d oatmeal cookies. In a man, Carolyn prefers someone who is outgoing and enjoys life . He must have strength of charactei, ambi tion, imagination and dive rsi fied interests. Carolyn pre fers a man who is sensitive to the needs of others. Carolyn finds her job at C«isum er P otection satis fying as it involves a full range of activities and con cerns. She is Involved speci fica lly in research and com munity education m consumer problems. Sen ator George McGovern made public the names of 42,472 pet sons who have contributed to his campaign. In e g ifts ranged from many one dollar contributions by in dividuals to $25,000 from Xerox Corporation. Xerox Coiporations largest shareholder. "F o r too long. Presidential candidates have catered to special interests, to the rich. to the corporations, and others who use secret conduits to mask their real influence." McGovern said, with fu ll dis closure "powe brokers w ill no longer have any place to hide." McGovern challenged his rivals, in particular Senator Muskie ot Maine and Mayor Lindsay of New York, to name their backers sooner and in more detail tian the new fed eral law on campaign financing requires. The reaction from other A im am ed a Theater 3 0 0 0 N.E. A lb e rta presidential candidates was cool. Senator Muskie's staff said he has accepted money from Republicans and pre viously untapped sources who asked fo r and received his guarantee of privacy. Mayor Sam Yorty, of Los Angeles, dismissed Senator McGovern's release as a "p u b lic ity g im m ick" Senatoi Hubert Humphrey said he would abide by the law and _ the rules of the Democratic P arty. And there’ s nothing in the record of the (Nixonj Administration to sug gest it is going to enforce the new law.” One of the m ajor disclos ures in the McGovern report is that more than 42,O(XJ per sons have contributed to his campaign.
