Paradoxes of Life
Considering all the things we
have today and consider them to
be the proper time saving and
labor savingdevices we find that
we aiso have paradoxes which are
good on one hand and not con
sidered good on the other.
The
L ittle
boy rushed home from
school and excitedly told
his
mother, "They have a magic re
cord player at school, you do not
have to plug it into e le c tric ity , it
does not use batteries, all
you
have to do is just crank it up with
a handle and it p la ys."
The
m other could only sm ile as she
thought of how her parents had
considered the e lectric
and
battery machine as magic.
When
a boy gets up at four
o’ clock in the morning to deliver
papers people w ill say he is a real
go-getter. If the same boy is ask
ed to get up early todo some work
fo r the church people w ill say that
is asking too much of a boy.
If a woman spends all day and
many hours of the night attending
club
meetings and going to
different
social affa irs, people
w ill say she is really energetic.
If the samewomanis w illin g to
work regularly in the church and
become a real ambassador fo r the
Lord, people w ill say religion has
gone to her head.
If a person ties himselfdown to
making payment of$25.00 a week
fo r some item fo r his personal
enjoyment, he pays it w illin g ly . If
that same person is approached
and asked to tithe to the church or
increase the meager amount he
gives in the Sunday offering plate,
he says that church want too
much money.
We live in a time of paradoxes
where the fir s t things come last
and last things come fir s t.
The
young wish they were a little older
and the old wish they were a little
younger. Put fir s t things fir s t
