High school dropouts celebrate
The Portland Residential Man
power Center for high school
dropouts celebrated the fir s t
anniversary of the start of its
classes on March 9, 1970, with a
four-hour-long party that drew
several hundred guests.
The event took place in the
c a f e t e r i a of the downtown Ad
m inistration Building at 1022 SW
Salmon on F riday, March 5, from
1 to 5 p.m.
A large carboard tiered —
birthday cake with a huge red
candle on top and .red, white and
blue decorations greeted the
guests. Smaller real cakes, one
tiered and decorated with "Happy
B irth d a y," were consumed, a-
long with ice cream, tea, coffee
and punch in large quantities.
