S.C. House Makes History
Columbia, S.C. - All four Ne
groes running for the South
Carolina House were elected
last week, becoming the first
black members of that body
since 1901. All Democrats, they
are: I. S. Leevy Johnson and
Jam es Felder, Columbia law
yers; also, Herbert Fielding, a
businessman, and Jam es Cly-
bum, farm er's group executive,
both Charleston County winners.
Last Negro in the S.C. General
Assembly was Jolui W. Bolts,
Georgetown s e n a t o r who went
out of office in 1901.

f i r s t place, in ladies classic
l e a g u e , Interstate lanes. With
22-14 won and lost record,
Merck Realty 2nd one game off
the pace at 21-15. It was a team
effort Monday night for the
Realters to move into first
place. As they produced three
500 plus series, the most excit-
ing moment of the evening was
to see Minnie Brown convert the
3-8-10 split.
COSMO league 2nd. Round got
off to an exciting start Monday
morning, it seem s like everyone
wants to be first. When the
morning’s action was over no
one had much to brag about. As
the 10th place team was only
one game out of first place.
