The Toys in the Window
You can walk the streets of
the city any (lay now and see a ll
th e wonderful Christmas dis
plays. Toys of a ll descriptions,
presents of a ll kinds and beauti
ful Christmas decorations of a ll
colors are displayed In the win
dows of the stores. Many adults
and children w ill s till have a
bleak Christmas without enjoy
ing these things for Christmas.
A little boy In the slums,
whose parents were dead, was
left in the care of a drunken
w o m a n who beat and half
starved him . The greatest de
light In his life was to gaze at
the beautiful Christmas toys In
the shop windows. He knew that
these toys were not for him be
cause there was always the
glass between. One day the little
boy was run over by a car and
taken to a hospital. He saw
other children playing with toys
they had received for C hrist
mas. When he was able to sit
up In bed, one morning he no
ticed toys all around and on his
bed. Hardly able to believe his
eyes, he stretched out his hands
and touched the toys. He shouted
to the other children, "Look
there's no glass between."
The glass between the child
and the toys may be removed
when there are enough people
who care enough to see that
those wtio have not, do have and
can enjoy the good things of the
season. A m erry Christmas Is
one where they are made happy.
