She had been on the FBI most wanted list since early August following an attempted prisoner escape in San Rafael, Calif, in which four people were killed. Many had believed that Miss Davis had left the country like H. Rap Brown and Eldridge Cleaver, however, federal agents learned from a reliable source that the couple had been registered at the motel two days and before that had been in and out of New York City for a month. CAR PLAYS KEY ROLE FBI agents had been checking every possible lead until a garage adjoining the motel. This led to searching the registry of motel guest. The car was regis tered under the name of Gilbert. NAME NOT ALIAS The couple had used this name before, although It was not an alias it was a hot tip. FBI agent gave two reasons for not making the a rre st im mediately in the lobby. F irst, for the safety of the public and second because an a rre st in a room made it lawful for the agents to search their posses sions without a search warrant. Arrested with her was David Rudolph Poindexter, J r ., a 36 year old Negro from Chicago who was said by FBI agents to be wealthy. The hotel cost $34.00 per day. Mt.
