Rounds, general superin tendent of the Tacoma Railway & Power company, more than 2000 be ing sold in one day. This is far better than was ex pected, Mr. Rounds said, and .it is thought that within the next week or two the weekly sale will reach the 10,000 mark. Although only in the experimental Btage, the company Is pleased at the showing, which is better than many other cities where me plan, has been inaugurated, he said. Zeller, aged 63, resident of Portland since 1883, ,died last Tuesday at his home, 642 East An keny street. Mr. Zeller was born in Ohio and at the age of 18 began learning the build fng trade. A few years later he had established him self at St. Elmo, III., as an archi tect and builder. In 1883 he came to Portland and became associated with William. R. 6 Stokes, under the iui 111 iiaiuo yt i Stokes & Zeller, and engaged in building operations for more tnan a quarter of a century. Funeral services will be held at the family home this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be at Eiverview cemetery. Jackson R. Myers. Word has been received here "of the death of Jackson R. Myers at Ukiah, Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Myers were passing a vacation in Mendo cino county when Mr. Myers sud denly fell ill and had to be removed to Ukiah. He underwent an opera tion for appendicitis. Suffering a relapse, he died Monday. Funeral services were held at Berkeley on Wednesday. Rev. William S. Short, an old Hawaiian friend of Myers, and formerly of the diocese of Ore gon, officiated. Mr. Myers and his wife, who wss Clara Dekum, had many friends and relatives, in this city.- f Mrs. Alice Scollard. WOODBURN, Or., July 26. (Spe cial.) Alice Scollard, widow of John Scollard, who died ,in Salem, was' buried here today. ' Surviving her are five sons and one daughter Mrs. A. A. McDonald, Raymore, Can ada; Frank and Maurice Scollard, Seattle, Wash., and Charles, Joseph and Edwin Scollard, Portland, Or. Deceased was 72 years old, a native of Ireland and for many years re sided at St. Paul and Woodburn. Murphy and Mar shall Hooper for J300.000, alleged to be due on promissory notes to the First State and Savings bank, which was closed by the state banking de partment. Rudolph and Delbert Rudolph, arrested a few days ago on a charge of burning a house and barn near Elmira to ob tain the insurance, were today in dicted by the Lane county grand jury which had been called in ad journed session and adjourned this afternoon. Charles Ray, R. R. Hard grove and Roy Hardgrove were each indicted on a charge of larceny of automobiles and a "not true bill" was reported in the case against Larry McCleary, charged with a statutory crime in connection with his elopement with the wife of a Josephine county man a short time ago. Western Cooperage, Wright-BIod-gett and Merrill Lumber Com panies Form Corporation A deal which has merged 18,000 acres cf Oregon timber "into the holdings of one company, but which involved tha exchange of no money, was closed yes terday when the Western Cooperage company, Wright - Blodgett company, Ltd., and 'the Merrill Lumber company organized the Tidewater Timber company for the purpose of making more feasible the development of their properties in Clatsop county. . . The announcement of the merger was made by J. Hv Smith of the Western Cooperage company, who has been made secretary of the Tidewater Timber com pany. The new concern is incorporated under the laws of Michigan and as a capital stock of $4,000,000. Its headquarters will be locataed in Portland. "The merger has been made for the purpose of making logging of the prop erties more easy," said Mr. Smith. "The three concerns had properties in the same townships and determined that it was more feasible to operate all under one head. Our engineers - are now working on plans and surveys and will soon make a recommendation as to whether we will log the properties involved or con tract them to be logged." Mr. Smith said the concern had no in tention of building a "mill, but would log the timbea and sell the products on the markets. ' The timber on the 18,000-acre area, is mostly fir but there are some hemlock, spruce and cedar. ' TOO LATE TO CLASSIFY. COUPLE leaving for Los Angeles next week by motor desire two passengers to S.
