In spite of many counter attrac
tions one being the visit of Marshal
'Koch public Interest continued un
abated yesterday in attendance at
renditions of various programmes
connected with the observance of
music week.
There was community singing at
the luncheon of the Progressive Busi
ness Men's club, at the meeting of the
Catholic women's league and at the
nnntr court house, yesterday. In
the council chamber of the city hall
solos and quartets were heard, the
Spokane, Portland & Seattle railway
employes' feature orchestra rendered
a stirring programme, and at 12:30
P. M. a fine concert was given on the
balconv of the Union station oy tne
Southern Pacific Jband. Last night
thorn was a special musical pro
gramme at the Y. W. C. A. by Chinese
girls, and varied music in the music
room at the public lmrary.

Further Increases In the' shipments
of lumber from the northwest by
water s shown by the weekly lum
ber review for the week ending No
vember 26, issued yesterday by tne
West Coast Lumbermen's association.
The report shows that of the new
business for thj -eek a total of 44 per
cent is to be shipped by water.
The shipments for the week showed
45 per cent were sent by water.
"One hundred and eight mills re
porting to West Coast Lumbermen's
association for the week ending No
vember 26th, manufactured 69,577,331
feet of lumber, sold 56.614,824 feet acd
hipped 52,286,897 feet," the report
eaid.
"Production was 26 per cent below
normal New business was 5 per cent
below production; shipments were 12
per ccn,t below production.
"Forty-four per cent of the nev
business Is to 'be shipped by water,
cargo orders for the week having to
taled 25.054.824 feet, of which 15,219,
861 feet was for domestic cargo de
livery, and 9,834,963 feet for export
delivery. Rail trade orders were 1053
cars.
"Forty-five per cent of the week's
shipments represented In cargo load
ing, with a total of 23,396,897 feet, of
which 14,893,569 feet went coastwise
and lntercoastal, while 8.503.328 feet
went overseas. Rail shipments were
down to 963. cars.
"The unshipped balance In the do
mestic cargo trade totaled 98,004,119
feet. In the export trade 73,634,541
feet. The unshipped balance in the
Tail trade :s 3249 cars."
