The canned roods market , Is working
bot on a different line from what was ex
pected. At the opening of the season
pessimism was rite and for a time it
looked as If there might be no trade at
Sill. All this has been changed. The fruit
Sack of Oregon and Washington Is now
practically all sold and prices are ad
vanclng. When the season opened, the trade would
hot buy at the prices asked and forced the
market down to sach a point as to discour
ses cannera Now that the pack is all In.
xcept pears, apples and prunes, the buy
ers are coming Into the market and try
Ins to lay In supplies. As a consequence
the competitive bidding is sending prices
Upward.
The probable output was over estimated
to begin with and because of the great
difficulty in arranging finances, the ulti
mate pack proved to be very small, par
ticularly of Royal Anne cherries, straw
berries, gooseberries, red raspberries and
loganberries. Because of the low fruit
prices, a larger percentage than normal
f the crop was shipped fresh to local and
eastern markets and a short canned goods
pack was the result.
Bartlett pears have not yet been pscked
tout the output Is nearly all sold ahead.
The pack of string- beans will be light,
wing to dry weather.
The larger part of the surplus of canned
fruits carried over from last year has
been cleaned up and the remainder - is
being disposed of. the demand for jams
and preserves alone being backward.
With a close clean-up of canned goods
In the northwest this year assured, the
prospect for next season in the packing in
dustry Is Indeed bright.

LARGE
PROFITS!
Ton are offered an amazing
opportunity for money making
in the MUNICIPAL BONDS of
Europe's seventh largest city.
The bonds are secured by a di
rect mortgage of $47,691,223 on
city property, against which
there is an outstanding debt of
only three million.
A return to normalcy will in
crease the value of these bonds
119 times. The country of
which this city is the capital
is showing remarkable recup
erative powers, and normalcy
can be expected at no far dis
tant future. But profits of
100, 600 and 1000 are en
tirely possible within a very
snort time.

The Test
The rrumber of years the road lasts
and the satisfaction it gives to
those who use it is the real test
of a pavement. Look at the streets
and highways where Warrenite
Bitulithic has had hard usage over
a period of years. Ask those who
have used it under all conditions.
Figure out its comparative cost.
Note the virtues of its resiliency
and its non-skid, noiseless char
acter. There is only one answer,
namely, Warrenite-Bitulithic.
