developed yesterday and consignments at
the union stockyards yesterday afternoon
were knocked down for as low as $4, with
prices ranging f rom - that figure p to

to weakness and little demand developed.
Ieelfns In the Chicago. Kansas Jity
and Omaha markets are having the effect
of causing a weak undertone to the local
hog market. Some of the sales yesieraay
were made around $14. the top figure, but
the majority ranged from $12.25 to $13.

PURPOSE The proceeds of this bond issue will be used to reimburse the Company's treasury for
capital expenditures heretofore, made, to provide funds for the acquisition of additional
property and for necessary improvement to the plant of the Company.
H I S T 0 R Y The East Bay Water Company, a California Corporation, was formed November 1 3,
1916. The company, with its predecessors, has been engaged for the past fifty-six years
. in the production, distribution and sale of water for domestic and industrial purposes in
the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Piedmont, Emeryville, Albany and San
Leandro in Alameda County, and Pinole and Richmond in Contra Costa County.
These communities are advantageously located on the eastern shore of San Francisco
Bay and have a combined population of 350,000.
S EC URITY These bonds will be a direct obligation of the Company and a mortgage upon all of Its
properties now owned of hereafter acquired. The Unifying and Refunding Mortgage
will have an authorized issue of $50,000,000 and will provide that when and as the
remaining bonds of the First Mortgage can be issued and when and if additional First
Mortgage Bonds are released to the ComDany by the payment of the 6 Note issue
August 1 , 1 923, such bonds must be immediately deposited with the Trustee of the Uni
fying and Refunding Mortgage. There will be immediately deposited under the Unify
ing and Refunding Mortgage $2,500,000 of first-mortgage 54 Bonds.
VALUATION Based upon the valuation of the Company's properties made by the Railroad Commis
sion of the State of California at the time of the incorporation of the Company, plus subse
. quent expenditures for improvements, extensions and betterments of plant, the present
physical property investment of the Company, as of January 1, 1921, is $19,180,000.
The Company owns in excess of 45,400 acres of real estate conservatively valued at
$7,250,000. Total bonded indebtedness outstanding $12,428,900.
