the already long line of vessels now

a part cargo of grain here for Europe,
and the Williams line Bteamer Will
faro with cargo from the Atlantic
coast.
The Siam. which is the third mo
torship to reach this harbor in the
last few days for grain, will load for
Kerr Gifford & Co., at the Montgomery
dock. She took on a part cargo of
train at Vancouver. B. C. and will
complete her cargo here with the
exception of a little general freight to
tie taken on at San Francisco, en
route to the Panama canal.
The Siam is a sister ship of the
Peru, which arrived here Friday for
rraJn cargo. and belongs to the same
company, the t-ast Asiatic company,
With the arrival of the Willfaro,
there were four steamers in the river,
all operating in the Atlantic-Pacific
trade. The Willfaro arrived at As
toria yesterday at 7:15. She went to
Vancouver, Wash., to discharge a
quantity of steel previous to taking
co miscellaneous- cargo here.
Other vessels operating In the
coast-to-coast traffic, which were in
the river, were the steamer Steel
maker of the Isthmian line, the
Bteamer Walter A. Luckenbach of th
Luckenbach service, and the steame-"
Lehigh of the Atlantic & Western
line.
Another Atlantic coast steamer, the
Arizona of the United American line,
was due to make the mouth of the
river last night from New York city.

The steam schooner illamette arrived at
'J o'clock last night from San Francisco
and went to SL Helens to load lumber.
Bringing a cargo of fuel oil for Portland
the tank steamer Wm. F. Herrin arrived
from California at 11 o'clock today.
The steamer Willfaro from Puget Sound
arrived at 8 o'clock tnis morning and pro
ceeded to Portland.
Coming to load lumber at St. Helens, the
steam schooner Ceiilo arrived from San
Francisco at 11 o'clock today.
Carrying freight and passengers from
Portland and Astoria the steamer Alaska
sailed at 6:30 last night for San Francisco.
The steam schooner Santa Barbara laden
'lth lumber from Wauna and Westport
sailed at 4.30 this morning for San Dleco.
The new tank steamer Livingston Hoe
from Vancouver sailed at 3 o'clock this
morning; for San Francisco.
