TTTE MORNING OREGONTAN, WEDNESDAY. DECE3IBER 15, 1920 WIFE BMNDED MTIGUL PEXTACOSTAIi CrXT BIAMED FOR MARITAL TROUBLES. Adolph Schieve, Answering Di vorce Complaint, Says Religion Has Made Helpmeet Insane. Religious teachings "that ara al leged to have broken up a home, are cited by Adolph Schieve in an answer to the divorce complaint filed recent ly against him by Adolphene Schieve. who he says has "become insane in her belief" fostered by a cult known as the Pentecostal mission. For five years the couple got along together, says the document, but In October, 1914, Mrs. Schieve took up the cult. Ever since, it continues, "she has been insane to such degree that her statements, assertions and beliefs, which are hallucinations,, are not to be relied on." It further de clares that the wife "talks in strange kinds of tongues and carries on in ways peculiar to the cult." Mr. Schieve denies the allegation of his wife that he attempted to poison her, and says, instead, that one of the purposes of her divorce suit is to strip him of his property that she may contribute it to the Pentecostal mission. He says his daughter, Ruth, "has been led to take up with the mission, together with its ravings and divers kinds of tongues, discerning of spirits and In terpretation of tongues, which has rendered said cult dangerous to the family's peace, the tranquility and quiet of this defendant, and of many other families in the city."
