"WASHINGTON. Nov. 1. Imports of Canadian wheat and flour during the first 15 days of October were great er than in any corresponding period In. the last seven years, the federal trade commission says in a report to day to President "Wilson. The report was based on an investigation or dered "by President Wilson after he had been asked by Governor Allen of Kansas to place an embargo on wheat Imports from Canada. "The largest October importations rn this period amounted to only 1.7 54,000 bushels," the committee said. "That was in 1915. They are also at a rate considerably greater than the Importations in the month of Jan uary 1918. when the imports aggre gated 7,639,000. This was the largest monthly importation from Canada from the years 1912 to 1919. "In respect to the wheat flour, the Imports from Canada during the first 15 days of October, 1920, were con siderably more than half of those during the entire month of September, 1917, when the quantity Imported was greater than in any month during the seven years prior to 1920." The commission stated that the in vestigation was being pressed. CATTLE THIEF IS SOUGHT Harvey Byce, Logger, Charged With Stealing Herd. , ETJGEXE, Or., Nov. 1. (Special.) Harvey Byce, logger, employed for some time in camps up the Mohawk river, is sought on charges of the theft of 21 head of cattle from John Spores, a farmer living near Donna. It is charged that Byce drove the cattle out of Spores' field about a week ago and sold them to a Bug-one meat firm. Three of the animals have already been slaughtered, it is said. Charles Taylor of Eugene, who buys and sells livestock, was arrest ed today charged with attempting to conceal stolen property, the complaint against him alleging that he handled the Spores cattle after they had been stolen. Taylor will be given a hear ing in the local justice court Wednes day. Byce has disappeared. Airship Flight Successful. WASHINGTON, Nov. 1. Naval air ship D-2, which flew successfully from Akron, O., to Langley Field. Va.. Sunday, has been delivered, the navy department said tonight, to the army air forces stationed there.
