SALEM, Or.. Oct. 28. (Special.)

Governor Olcott today. Converse
originally was arrested in Nevada,
charged with contributing to the de

being tried was convicted and later
released on $500 bail pending sen
tence. Later he left Nevada and came
to Oregon.
Sheriff Springer of Winnemucca,
who arrived here today in oueRt of
extradition papers, ' said that when
Converse was arrested it was neces
sary for the officers to fire several
bullets at the car in which he at

What Study Course?
It is no longer so much the- question,
"Should I take up a. course of study ?'
but rather "What course should I take?"
Many are taking, not one, but two and
three courses. Indeed, one prominent New
York financier has taken and scanned
eight courses. In answer to the question
"Did it pay?" he said that he made $85,000
in one year out of one thing alone that he
learned.
Now it ts quite essential In order to
accomplish big things in, business that a
man have, first of all, some legal train
ing. Over 78 per cent of law graduates
never practice law because they are quickly
snapped up by the big industrial and
commercial concerns. Every act in the
day's work involves not only rights and
privileges but peculiar rights and privi
leges, and it is right here that the law
trained man "cashes In" on his specialized
knowledge.
An unusual opportun ity to become
law-trained with lens than the ordi
nary outlay of time Is offered through
the La&alle Kxtenvion University I -aw
Course. Local Law Clans each I'ririny
evening at 7:30, 446 Courthouse. Judge
