Albany One of First to Suggest Coolidge. Autographed Picture of Massa chusetts Ctovernor Tiow on Ei h Ihition in Bask Window. LBXXT, Or., June 14. (Special.) When news reached Albany that Governor Coolidge of Massachu setts had been nominated for vice prcsidern of the United States, a big' autographed picture of him appeared in the window of the bank of J. W. Cusick & Co. here, and thereby hangs a tale. TT' A few months agro, after some unknown-citizens had filed for nomi nation for the vice-presidential pref erence in Oregon and before Portland republicans had started a movement to place the name of, Henry Cabot Lodge n the ballot, officers of the Albany - Republican club decided to take this initiative in trying to get the name of a prominent republican on the ballot. They agreed that Gov ernor Coolidge should be their choice and wrote to him and asked him to permit the use of his name In that connection. Governor Coolidgre thanked the club sincerely for its interest, but asked that his name be not used. With his letter he sent the club a large auto craphed photograph. When he was nominated Saturday the photo was put up In the bank window by E. D. Cusick.' president of the club. Officers of the Albany club are felicitating themselves that they probably made the first direct sug gestion to Governor Coolidge that he become" a candidate for vice-presi-ent.
