of last week's buoyant and varied dealings,
furtner heavy buying resulting from Uie
lance accumulation of orders over the recess.
Again the movement appeared to be based

merous optimistic surveys and opinions from
various sections of the country, these being
tampered. In a measure, however, by indi
cations of further crop deterioration.

rived ytrday and they were put on sale

the corn market today after an early ad
vance. The market closed unsettled a
decline of '.. to 2c net with September $1.05
ei.i5'; and December $1.62 Hl. 63. Oats
finished lac to fcc down. In provisions, the
outcome ranged from 30c off to a rise of 15c
until news came that moisture had been
supplied in Kansas, Iowa and In other Im
portant sections where there was need, the
corn market showed a decided upward ten
dency. However, sentiment chanjred quickly
alter senilis was started by dispatches tell

strating that at least for the time being the
market had been overbought.

THE WEATHER.
Latter Are Dollar Over Last Week's
Quotations Lambs and
Sbeep Slow.
The week opened with, the swine and cat
tle market strong and higher. There was
a rood run of etock at the yards, aggregat
ing 13 carloads, and trading was lively j
throughout the day. Hogs sold a quarter j
higher than last week's beat quotation, five
loads bringing the top price of $22.25, i
record for this market.
Cattle were about a dollar higher than
the prices that have lately been ruling. Top
steers are quoted at $11 and cows at $9,
but sales were made during the day in ex
cess of these quotations.
In the mutton market the weak feeling
that prevailed last week continued, with
lambs about a quarter lower.
Receipts were 1539 cattle, 240 calves, 1533
bogs and 2781 sheep. The day's sales were
as follows:
