Oata reflected the strength of corn. Ex
port sales to Holland continued, too, against
the bears.
Provisions were lifted by the big upturns
of the grain and hog markets. Besides, ex

Butter Market Conditions at Leading Dis
tributing Points.
San Francisco and eastern dairy produce
reports received by wire by the Portland
office of the bureau of markets yesterday
follow :
Chicago. The butter market opened very
weak here this morning and quotations are
down from lc to lV4c. The eastern market
reports came in better than had been ex
pected and the market steadied somewhat
but it would still be termed weak and un
settled. There is a fair amount of trading
on extras at 56c but dealers seem ready
to shade prices on lower scores to move
their good,. Quite a few cars of centralized
were here today and sales were made at 55
nnd 55',4c for fine cars scoring 90 points.
On car scoring 88 to 89 sold for 53 Vic
Receipts were 7968 tubs today.
New York. After a decline of Vic on the
top grades this morning there was a some
what unsettled feeling and dealers generally
stated that the market was barely steady.
No great weakness could be noticed among
the majority. Some California butter scor
ing about 90 points and some as high as
92 was reported sold at about 5Sc Some
centralized was being offered at 38Q58V4C
The receipts continue to show a great deal
of butter m-lth off flavors. Receipts of but
