WOOL AUCTION WILL
BE HELD ON MUTCH G
About 1,000,000 Pounds Will
Be Offered for Sale.
ALL GRADES OF TERRITORY
Bidders Notified to Appear at Office
of United States Administrator
Green, iu this City.
Announcement was made yesterday by
Cfearleg H. Grren. United States wool ad
ministrator and distributer, that the auc
turn sale ot wools stored at Portland would
te held promptly at 2 P. M. on March 6 In
room 21V Kail way .Exchange building, this
city.
Mr. Green will offer about 1.000.000 pounds
f ail grades of territory wools. Hamples
will be ready for Inspection on March 3 at
the folumbla Baatn wool warehouse and
Portland wool warehouse.
A. W. Elliot, chief of the wool, top and
yarn branch clothing and equipment divls
Ion of the quartermaster's department, states
that as nearly as can be estimated at the
upcesent time the United Statets government
owns and holds for disposal through the
wool auctions approximately 300.0u0.000
pounds of wool exclusive of the Australasian
wools about which negotiations have been
in progress with the British government for
some time, some 40.000.090 pounds, rougthly
speaking, or about 63 per cent of the offer
ings having been disposed of In the wool
auctions up to date.
This estimate of 300.000.000 pounds, ac
coed In g to the Boston Commercial Bulletin,
Include wools taken by the government
since the announcement of .December 18,
1'JIO. both of the domestic clip and Import
ed wools and some of the wools which have
been returned by the mills "in the original
packages." The estimate, however, is only
an estimate and no final figures can be
given at the present time for the reason
that not all of the mills have made returns
of unused wool and not all of the wool has
been taken over under the agreements of
the government, nor will they be until
March I.
As for the Australasian wools. It Is fig
ured that the government wilt receive at
least loo.ooO bales of the contract, whether
the British government agrees to cancel
part of the contract or not. . 8ome of these
wools have already arrived In this coun
try and more ir afloat. v

COURTHOUSE ROW TO END
sion in a very short time before Circuit
Judge F. M. Calkins of Medford is the
belief of a number of the attorneys
who have just returned from arguing
the issues.
The judge indicated his desire to get
these smaller matters settled and have
the principal issues brought up soon.
No decision on any of the matters tak
en up was forthcoming at the recent
hearing except the case of Architect
Heide against the county clerk for the
non-issuanace of. warrants, in which
the demurrer of the latter was over,
ruled and the defendant Riven ten days
in which to answer. This case will
come up next Monday.
