Proposes Measure to Keep Contracts AVithin. State. CEXTRAL.IA. Wash., Jan. 13. (Spe cial.) - Centralia Typographical Union No. 694 has addressed a. letter to Sen ator A. E. Judd and Representatives H. W. Thompson, H. H. Swofford and J. S. Siler, members of Lewis County's delegation in the State Legislature, asking their support of a bill to be introduced during the present session providing that ail ettate, county, mu niclpal and school district printing be done within the state of Washington The letters point out. that several large printing contracts have gone to con cerns in other states; that Washing ton's progressive 'laws make taxes much higher in this state than many others and that it is almost impossible for printing concerns in this state to compete with slates having no pro gressive laws. The local union has expressed itself in favor of retaining the present labor laws, but believes that these laws should rot prove a handicap to the employers of its members in- bidding on printing contracts.
