Plan Trcpared to Cover Whole City
in One Day in Order to Get

Plans for what promises to be the

lated yesterday at a meeting of more
than 50 representative women of the
city held-in the assembly room of the
Hotel Portland, the beneficiary to be
the Waverly Baby Home. Mrs. William
MacMaster is chairman for the tag
day. which Will be held November 2
and has associated with her repre

group of women In the city, who hav
pledged their enthusiastic support.
Mrs. 1). C. Burns, president of th
home, outlined briefly the needs of th
institution after which Mrs. Mac
MacMaster presented the plan in a gen
eral way. Henry K. Reed. too. outlined
his plan for covering the entire city to
get the maximum return. The com
m It tee hopes to realize 120.000.
The immediate downtown district has
been divided into ten subdlstricts for
each of which a captain will be named.
. The Industrial plants will constitute
one division. The house-to-house can
vass will be in the hands of the Parent-
Teacher Associations and the Eastern
iitar. The downtown streets will be
Covered by IS selling stations of which
Mrs. C. B. Simmons, vice-president of
the Baby Home, will be the head with
assistants, each of whom will be
responsible for a station and a full
corps of workers, the plan being to
have some on the street by 7:45 A. M.
and some until 9 P. M.

FHVN DANCES TOO NOISY
People Living in Neighborhood Want
'"Nuisance Abated."
"Bolshevik" and ' "anti-American"
were epithets flung at the Russian
Finns, who own and operate a dance
Vall at 1'remont street and Montana
avenue, at the council meeting yes
terday. Petitioners from the neigh
borhood went before the city fathers
in an effort to have the "nuisance
abated."
"They dance, drink and conduct
themselves noisily and block the side
walks until long after midnight every
other night." declared the remon
strants. Further investigation of the place
was ordered. The Finns will be noti
fied to appear before the council next
week.
