Lane County, who had been serving; with the Canadian army, is reported missing in action, according; to word received by his aunt. Mrs. Wick Huff, of Eugrene. Pinkham had been on the western front three years. The past few days have broufrht the first casualties of the war to Pomeroy, Wash., boys, according: to E. W. Col lier, former superintendent of Pomeroy schools, now attending: Reed College as a member of the Students" Army Train ing" Corps. Kenneth Trigg-s. who enlisted In the Navy, died of influenza In Washington, and today Lieutenant Frank Fitzger ald is reported missing. The latter has four brothers in the service. Pom eroy has 250 young men in Uncle Eam'a forces. Mr. Collier's wife Is also attending Reed College, taking the reconstruc tion aides' course. Armlne Toung, son of E. M. Toung, of Independence, Or., who waa reported mlssi.ig In action July 22, is in a base hospital receiving treatment for a wound in the right arm, according to a letter received. by the father Septem ber 28. The young man was a member of Company L, an Independence organ ization. His letter was written Sep tember 6, and was received last week, setting at rest the fears that had been entertained by relatives.
