prices on hides for three months beginning
August 1, snnounoed today by the price fix

provide for an average reduction of from 1
to 8 oents per pound from the old prices.
Packer hides range from 24 oanta ts 80
cents a pound, according to the weight of
the steer, and country hides from SI cents to
K'J cents. All country hides ars ts ha boaght
and sold on a selected basis.
"These readjustments of maximum fixed

more nearly equalise the actual market con

hides and need not effect the prices of
cattle. There have been widespread com

been unable, owing to marketing condi

The War Industries Board has. therefore,
under consideration the appointment by per
mit of hide dealers, similar to tha system
adopted in wool.
