day. tbe Bostoa wool trade acted on the re
port of the special committee, which bad
conferred with tbe war Industries board, and
in wblca It was announced that tbe Gov
eminent would receive the voluntary offer
of tbe trade to turn over all of Ita wool at
July 30 prteea. In IKu of which offer the
wool would be commandeered. Obviously
there was only one thing for tbe wool trade
to do.
Tbe wool growers have offered all of the
new ISIS clip to the Government at July SO
prices. Tbe new cup. however, will be han

CHICAGO. April 20. Prospects for smaller
acreage, toeether with unfavorable weather,
rave the corn market today a decided up
ward swing. Prices closed firm. 14 o to
!Sc net higher, with May X1.2714 and July
I1.&3 to Oats finished unchanged
to t up and provisions varying from 20c
decline to a rise of 2oc.
Expected reduction of corn acreage was
ascribed largely to the continued cold and
rain. Despite the fact that considerable
realising on the part of holders was encoun
tered, no Important setbacks took place, not
withstanding comparative weakness of oats.
The outlook for oats seemed to be for the
largeet acreage on record.
Provisions were Irregular, but the average
level did not alter. Belgian orders to bs
filled served as a sustaining influence.

Washington Boy in Hospital.
TENINO, Wash.. April 26. (Special.)
Mrs. M. E. Reeder, of Maytown, has
received word that her grandson, Cecil
R. McRory, aged 18, has been admitted
to the first Canadian general hospital
with a gunshot wound in the thigh. The
wound was received on April 20. The
young soldier has been with the Cana
dian expeditionary forces in France for
the past year.

Cavin, of the Talent district, was run
over this evening, wheels of the engine
severing the infant's left leg at the
ankle and causing injurier of the head.
The child died at 9:45 o'clock tonight.
The child was brought to this city
by the train crew and rushed to a
local hospital, where an examination
was immediately made.
Engineer Lang noticed the object oa
the track, but not until the engine was
practically on the little baby figure
did he realize the danger. . He applied
the emergency brakes, but It was too
late. The engine and three forward
cars passed over the body. Coroner
Perl will make an -investigation of the
case tomorrow.
