damage to th, Umatilla County wheat crop
from the cold snap of the first of the week,
despite the fact that much of tha grain on
the reservation was in a condition where it
is highly susceptible to the cold.

ting: asparagus on his nine-acre ranch
on the river bottom at White Salmon.
This is one of the earliest seasons he
has seen. He will soon begin shipping:
to the Portland market.
Mr. Moore is known as the "Lady
Apple King" of the Northwest on ac
count of his commercial orchard of 2H
acres of this charm ins little red
cheeked fruit, which finds its market
mainly in the large Eastern cities for
table decorating during the holiday
season.
His apples are shipped mainly to
New York: his grass to the Portland
and. Seattle- markets. Indications this
season are for fA cars of Lady apples
and better than 1500 pound bundles of
grass. .
BIG BAZAAR IS PLANNED
Allied Red Cross Fair to Be Held at

cial.) A delegation of Centralians, ac
companied by the High School Band,
last night attended a Red Cross dance
tn Cheballs to advertise the allied Red
Cross baxaar to be held here the week
of April 15. A simlliar trip will be made
to Elma Saturday.
Further plans for the baxaar were
made at a meeting of the committee
chairmen Tuesday night. A parade the
opening night will be one of the big
features. Every nation allied with the
United States in tha war will be rep
resented by a float and music will be
furnished by the Cheballs Military
Band. Salter Valley Band. High School
Band and a fife and drum corps.
